PRACTICAL SKILLS, EVALUATION AND REFLECTION -Second Shoot Finals Edits

To this image I increased the contrast and clarity of the image. I used the dodge tool to decrease the contrast and darkness of the towers. These images worked better then the previous shoot because it was a rough day and there was more movement in the sea that creates a better effect where the sea was violently hitting the rocks edge and skimming back down. Whilst, the camera was set up. You can tell this because these images used a shorter exposure time and were more successful then the ones with longer exposure times and present a less smoothened effect. For all of my photos I used an eight - stop neutral density filter to limit the amount of light entering the sensor.

I feel like this is one of the most successful images and is one of my favourite. I like the feeling of mystery and murkiness presented by the rocks coming out of the water. It makes them look like they are floating above the water. I increased the contrast and the blacks and whites of this image. I felt the rock on the left hand side was under exposed so I used the burn tool on the rocks.

I increased the brightness and contrast of this image. I used the dodge tool on the towers to make them more vibrant and stand out from the rock face. I like the framing of this image and how the rocks are faded into the water. I like how there are more rocks in the base of the photo and I think they work really well. I think these photos could be better if the sky was less misty and there were clouds in the sky. To capture the movement in the sea and the sky. I think this would improve the overall appearance of the photo. The conditions were a lot better then the day before meaning long exposure photos were successful.

To this image I cropped the bottom of the image to remove a section of land. I increased the contrast and clarity of the image and I used the burn tool over the top of the rough rock edge. I like the lines in the sea where it shows the direction of the sea. I don't think this photo is as good as some of my other photos. However, I do like the way the sea is captured. I also think it works well to express the same technique as Thomas Joshua Cooper.

I also experimented with turning some of the more successful photos to black and white to replicate the kind of photos and the technique that Thomas Joshua Cooper uses. Personally I prefer the photos in colour. Although, they do relate more to the work of Coopers by using this style.
